Q: - When I view your site, the fonts look kinda big and clunky. What's up with that?
A: - I built this site using some of Microsoft's new-for-2007 fonts - most notably Calibri. This font is similar
to Arial, Helvetica and Sans-Serif, but it is a bit more compact and stylish. To get this font, you can either just
download and install Microsoft's PowerPoint 2007 Viewer [LINK] or you can
download the fonts in a .zip file from this site [LINK]. If you download the .zip
file, expand it and then copy the .ttf files into your Fonts folder (C:\WINDOWS\FONTS for Microsoft Windows, or Macintosh:Library:Fonts for Macintosh). I am confident that the Calibri font will be a standard font in future versions of Microsoft Windows (it is already part of MS Office) and I'll find a similar standard Mac font shortly.
Q: - What happened to the Barrie Astronomy Club?
A: - In 2004 I resigned as president of the Club in order to focus on my family and career. As a result, I stopped
hosting the Barrie Astronomy Club's website on deepskies.com. The website and e-mail list was moved to a Yahoo group:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/barrieastro/
You can visit the Yahoo group and sign up for the e-mail list, which is the best way to get involved. The Club has
almost 100 members now and is continuing to grow. Semi-regular meetings are held, and observations sessions are set up
through the e-mail list (most activity is in spring/summer). I am still a member of the Club and the new administration
staff is doing a fantastic job.
